Tag /day /día 192 – Gute Straßen und ein hübsches Dorf / good roads and a nice village / carretera buena y un pueblo bonito
Erster Tagesordnungspunkt: wir hissen die österreichische Fahne für ein Foto, und müssen dann dem verdutzten Tankwart von der Terpel-Gasolinera, wo wir letzte Nacht übernachtet haben, erklären, dass heute unser Nationalfeiertag ist.
First order of the day: we hoist the Austrian flag for a picture, and then we have to explain to the puzzled attendant of the Terpel gas station where we had spent the night, that today is Austria´s National Holiday.
Lo primero que hacemos hoy es izar la bandera Austríaca para un foto. Entonces tenemos que explicarle al desconcertado empleado de la gasolinera Terpel, donde pasamos la noche, que hoy es la fiesta nacional en Austria.
Dann geht es weiter Richtung Süden. In den letzten drei Tagen haben wir unser Spanisch-Vokabular beträchtlich erweitert: hundimiento (Senke), derrumbe (Abgrund, Erdrutsch), carril angosta (Fahrbahnverengung), oder deslizamiento (Steinschlag) stand auf den Warntafeln. Heute sehen wir keine einzige dieser Tafeln, die Straße ist gut und die Fahrt nach Mongui ein Vergnügen.
Then we continue direction south. During the last three days we have learned a lot of new spanish words: hundimiento (ditch), derrumbe (precipice, landslide), carril angosta (narrow road) or deslizamiento (falling rocks), written on the road signs. Today, we don´t see any of these warning signs, the road is good and the drive to Mongui is a pleasure.
Luego continuamos hacia el sur. En los últimos tres días hemos ampliado considerablemente nuestro vocabulario en español: hundimiento, derrumbe, carril angosta o deslizamiento estaba escrito en las señales de la advertencia. Hoy no vemos ninguna de estas señales, la carretera es buena y el viaje a Mongui es un placer.
Mongui ist ein hübsches Dorf mit weißen Häuschen, grünen Balkonen, grünen Türen, grünen Fensterläden und grünen Verzierungen. Die Basilica Menor de Nuestra Señora de Mongui ist beeindruckend, und die Führung durch das Franziskaner-Konvent vermittelte viele Informationen über die Gebäude, über das Leben der Mönche und die Methoden zur Missionierung der indigenen Bevölkerung. Allerdings hat der Besuch doch wesentlich länger gedauert als geplant, und so schaffen wir es beim letzten Tageslicht gerade noch an den Lago de Tota, wo wir ein hübsches Plätzchen für die Nacht finden, direkt am See neben einer Kapelle, wieder bewacht von Maria.
Mongui is a nice village with white houses, green balconies, green doors, green shutters and green decorations. The Basilica Menor de Nuestra Señora de Mongui is impressive, and the guided tour through the Franciscan Convent offered a lot of information about the buildings, about the monk´s daily life and about the methods used to convert the indigenous population. But the visit took longer than anticipated – we arrive at Lago de Tota at the last light of day; we find a nice spot for the night directly at the lake, next to a chaple, again guarded by the Virgin Mary.
Mongui es un pueblo bonito, con casas blancas, balcones verdes, puertas verdes, persianas verdes y adornos verdes. La Basilica Menor de Nuestra Señora de Mongui es impressionante,
y la visita guiada por el convento franciscano nos dio mucha información sobre los edificios, sobre la vida de los monjes y los métodos de conversión de la población indígena. Sin embargo, la visita tomó mucho más tiempo de lo planeado, y así llegamos al Lago de Tota con las últimas luces del día, donde encontramos un bonito lugar para pasar la noche, justo en el lago, junto a una capilla, guardado por la Virgen.
